Meet Us

Hi, we are Michael and Tanya from M.T House and Pet Sitting. We are a mature couple from Australia who are full-time world travellers. We view housesitting as a way to stretch the travel budget and the opportunity to explore the local area in depth.

We enjoy spending time with family, and friends, cruising, eating out, exploring, craft beer, and attending events. Life is about balance, so we also love a day or two at home to recharge our batteries by watching TV, reading, or gaming.

Tanya works remotely for an IT company as a data annotator. This means that she will be with your pet most of the day. She also has qualifications in disability support and aged care. She is patient, kind, and adaptable and can work independently.

As a defence force veteran, Michael continues to demonstrate the characteristics of service, loyalty, and reliability. In his second career as an engineer, his ability to solve complex problems in harsh conditions means that he can overcome any obstacle.

Housesitting experience

We are currently on our eighth sit since September 2024. Two of those sits were for the same owner, who asked us to return. Another wanted us to look after her dogs, but unfortunately, we were booked. The sits have ranged from 6 days to 4 weeks. We have cared for small dogs, large dogs and one cat.

Our Pets

We have been married for 30 years and have two adult children who live independently. Over the years, our house has been home to various pets, including a Jack Russell-Fox Terrier Cross, a Devon Rex cat, a dwarf rabbit, rats, guinea pigs, budgies, and goldfish. Our dog Toby and our cat Dexter were both rescues.

Sitting Philosophy

We are excited about the opportunity to care for your home and pets while you are away. We will treat your home and your precious belongings with the utmost respect. We have had many housesitters at our place over the years, so we understand that trusting a stranger is a huge leap of faith. We both have National Police Checks.

Regarding pet care, our approach is to fit into the pet's routine to ensure they have as little stress as possible. We can provide daily walks, medication, basic grooming, and any other care your pet requires.
We are not skilled gardeners but will be happy to water plants and do basic yard maintenance.
