Responsible and calm pet care

49, Designer and Maker of furniture and objects

Hello,
I’m looking forward to helping you and your pet have a stress free holiday.
I have been both a house and pet sitter privately, usually through word of mouth. References available.
And also a home owner who has had pet sitters look after my home and pets (Dog and Chickens) while on holiday. The longest being a 5 week trip. So I understand the process, effort and stress that can arise with finding a house/pet sitter. I feel it’s very important to maintain a pets routine when their owners are away, to reduce stress or anxiety.

It’s difficult to write about yourself, but here goes. I’ve been described by others as quiet with a warm sense of humour, responsible and problem solving. I’m practical, having lived off grid for extended periods and enjoy my work furniture making and construction. This helps with working through any hiccups that can happen.

I currently have a cheeky dog called Penelope (Pepper) who won’t be joining me on pet sits. She is a 13yo large mixed breed standard poodle x Labrador x staffy. She had a cruciate ligament operation several years ago and is on daily medication to help with joints and arthritis. She’s at the age where sleeping is taking up most of the day now, apart from a gentle walk in the afternoon. My family live locally so she loves to go and spend time with them and her dog friend while I’m away.

I’ve had a small variety of pets over the years. A cat called Smokey a British short hair, then a budgie called Bert who lived to a ripe old age of 12. Two rats called Jemma and Jasper, unfortunately rats aren’t long lived, so heart break every 2-3 years isn’t for me. My first dog Jessy was a beautiful heeler x Samoyed who was my constant companion for 13 years. And of course my current dog Pepper. Living regionally my family owned cows and horses, so I’m comfortable with large farm animals.

To relax I enjoy a good book in the evening or a movie. Perfecting a French patisserie or tart recipe. Outdoors I like exploring nature, bush walking and bird watching. Can’t go past a good op shop to find a treasure. And have always gardened, mostly large native landscape gardens and grown indoor plants. Non smoker, vegetarian with an active and healthy lifestyle.

Looking forward to a chat
Kind regards
Jody

Jody was a fabulous housesitter. She was in touch about arrival / departure times, and let me know she'd arrived safely. She provided an update, and lovely note plus a gift on my return. The house was very clean, plants watered and clean sheets ready to go. And most importantly, Mimi came out for evening cuddles and was well cared for. I'd definitely ask Jody to house sit again.
