We require a house sitter to look after our house and pets from Thursday 17h April - Saturday 26th April 2025.
We live in a beautiful double storey straw bale house in picturesque Sheffield (the town of murals) in Tasmania. We have 2 acres of land and a lovely view of Mount Roland.
You can help yourself to seasonal garden produce. We have 5 chickens who produce eggs and 2 friendly goats, Cookie and Grace, that like a pat.
Maggie, is our 3 year old beagle. She is very friendly with loads of energy. She loves to go on walks around the country roads or bush walking tracks and enjoys rides in the car to the beach or on other adventures. As she is a beagle, she always needs to be on a lead when outdoors. We have two secure outdoor pens for her if you are going out for the day.
We are located 5 minutes from the Sheffield township; 1 hour away from Cradle Mountain National Park; 20 minutes from Mount Roland; 30 minutes to the closest beach; Lake Barrington is 15 minutes away for great freshwater swimming; the Wild Mersey mountain biking trails beginning at Sheffield and Railton are super close, or drive 25 minutes to the start of trails at Latrobe. There are many other stunning natural locations close by.
The major centres of Devonport and Latrobe are 30 minutes and 20 minutes drive respectively. Plus we are very close to some great food and drink experiences, including Anvers Chocolates; Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm; Ashgrove Cheese; Spreyton Cider; Seven Sheds Brewery; La Villa Winery; House of Hargrave Vineyard; The Truffledore; Sheffield Honey; Southern Wild Distillery; Island State Brewery..........just to name a few on the Tasting Trail Tasmania.

Michelle was great to communicate with before and during the sit. Maggie and the other animals were very easy to take care of and the house was very charming. It was a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

We had a wonderful time in Sheffield while sitting Maggie, Grace, Cookie and the chooks! The animals were all relaxed and we had a lot of fun together. Maggie is such a cutie!
The garden is also amazing, we had some fresh eggs and tomatoes every morning for breakfast.
Michelle and the whole family are incredibly nice, the communication went very well and they gave us lots of recommendations for the area and even a little welcome package.

Maggie their Beagle was a dream to look after, such a sweet, cheeky and energetic pup! Great & patient with our 2 young girls.
Their home and property is just a delight and soo clean & comfortable. We loved having fresh eggs from their friendly chickens daily and the garden is flowing with yummy produce which we took full advantage of! Cookie and Grace the goats were a fav of our girls and absolutely no trouble at all.

Michelle and Carl were very welcoming of us into their home and provided great communication over the phone and written notes for us to refer to when needed. Maggie is an energetic and delightful dog to care for and loves being close to her humans. The chickens and goats were friendly and easy to care for. Maggie is an energetic and lovely dog, we enjoyed going on walks with her and cuddle time !
The house is absolutely lovely with a great garden. Taking care of the chickens and the goats was great fun!

Maggie the dog is lovely and enjoyed playing and walks. Being only 8 months old she is full of fun and energy. I enjoyed the quiet and serenity of Sheffield which is a lovey country town. Carl and Michelle's garden is lovely and is a testomony of all the work that has obviously been put into it. The home is comfortable and has a lovely view.
