As a new member in our homeowner community here at Aussie House Sitters, we really want you to get the most out of your membership and help you find the perfect house sitter as easily as possible.

We all know time is precious, so fortunately through our platform, securing a great house sitter doesn’t necessarily have to take a lot of time or effort.

You’re probably already aware of the many benefits of engaging a house sitter while you’re away. Now, we’d like to share what we believe to be the easiest and most time effective way of finding house sitters.

Place a FREE house sitting ad with Aussie House Sitters

From our experience, the most straightforward way you can find a house and pet sitter is by placing a free house sitting ad on our site. It’s pretty simple really: you place a free ad, our registered house sitters read it, they respond via the private in-house message system, and away you go.

Placing a free advertisement works because you know all the house sitters who apply for your house sit are

1) interested and

2) available.

It’s quite common to have multiple house sitters showing interest in your job ad, so you then have the luxury of selecting the best candidate for you. Listing your house sitting ad saves you time by having potential house sitters apply to you, instead of you searching through all the sitter profiles on the site to find a suitable match with availability.

Here are a few points on why we believe placing a free house sitting job ad is the way to go:

  • The house sitters replying are available and interested. You know straight away that those house and pet sitters contacting you are available for the dates you’ve stated and are already interested in your location and house sit details.
  • You can explain in detail your house sitting requirements. In addition to including dates and location, you can elaborate on specific details about your house sit opportunity. This could include certain responsibilities regarding the care of your home, pets and garden. This way, house sitters will be aware of specific needs and can screen themselves for suitability before they message you.
  • You can create a pool of house sitters. Hopefully your house sit ad will attract messages from multiple sitters, so you can select the most suitable candidate from this pool of applicants. If for some unforeseen reason your chosen house sitter can no longer commit to the house sit, you can select another from the list of those who contacted you.
  • House sitter profiles are attached to messages. All the sitters who contact you via your ad have their profiles attached to their first message. This way you can learn more about them, read their reviews and view their photos with one easy click.
  • Our house sitters get notified of your ad. Our sitter members receive email alerts of new house sit ads in their preferred area, so your advertisement will be seen quickly by those who are interested in your location.
  • You can include photos in your ad. You can add pictures of your home, garden and pets, so the sitter can get visual sense of what’s required for your house sit. It’s always a good idea to share photos of your pets in your listing, so your potential house sitters can see the kind of animals they will be caring for.
  • It’s private and safe. All house and pet sitters respond to your ad via our private in-house message system. This means your contact details remain totally private. You do however have the ability to place your phone number as an optional contact if you prefer.
  • Only registered house sitters can contact you. Rest assured, only registered Aussie House Sitters house and pet sitters are able to contact you via your ad. The paid membership required for sitter registration means that you’ll be receiving ad responses from only committed house and pet sitters.
  • You can easily deactivate your ad. Once you’ve found a sitter or received enough responses, you can deactivate your ad with one click. You can still continue to message those house sitters you have been in contact with (or contact new sitters) when your ad is deactivated. You can also update the details to reuse the ad in the future if you ever want to find a new sitter.
