63, Teacher - semi retired

Hi, I’m Rob. Thanks for reading.
I’m a semi-retired teacher, I love all animals and I really enjoy gardening and plants. I’m reliable, organised and caring. I am a neat, tidy and clean person. Also fit, active and keen. I am able to care and give companionship for your pet/s during daytime and at night.

Until recently my career was in education, as a secondary school teacher and administrator, and international college teacher/lecturer. Since then, I’ve done occasional casual stints as an exam supervisor for USyd, UNSW and HSC, and as an electoral officer for the NSWEC.

I have two beautiful indoor Burmese cats (Mima & Chooch) who are real characters and I adore (but will stay with my partner and partner’s mother). Previously, I had a tricolour cat (Sodapop) for 19 years, rescued when found abandoned under a building as a tiny kitten. I’m experienced at administering insulin for feline diabetes and other medications (for dogs and cats). Over the years I’ve also owned and cared for two dogs (kelpie cross and poodle cross), birds (finches, canaries, budgies, doves, quails), three frogs, two rabbits, fish and a mouse. Plus enjoying an amazing variety of visiting birds, possums, blue-tongues and flying foxes.

At home, I particularly love nurturing cuttings or seeds and seeing them grow, and caring for plants. I’m also a member of a local community garden and I volunteer at Sydney City Farm. I’ve previously volunteered elsewhere, including in Taronga Zoo’s ‘Zoo Ed’ program. Other interests include gym, walking, swimming, travel, reading and health.

I own a house in Sydney which is being rebuilt & renovated over the next 12 months. So, I’m taking this opportunity to get out and do something different - and I’ve had house and pet sitting in my mind for quite some time.

As I’m new to this site, I don’t have sitting references here yet, but I have several sits confirmed now. I can also easily ask former employer/s and volunteer organisation/s to be referees for me if you’d like and I’ve had police checks as part of my employment and volunteer activities.

Please contact me if you may be interested or you’d like to know more. I’m really looking forward to this and I’d love to look after your home, precious animals and plants.
