Experiences, not things.

Okay, so I do actually have quite a lot of things, that until recently were packed away into storage. Caring for my late husband for four years somewhat shifted my ideas on what is important to me. When my youngest moved to Canada at the end of 2016 to finish his Chemistry Degree, and then stayed on to work, I decided to stow my household of belongings and become a gypsy.

I call myself an extroverted introvert, so this lifestyle decision was both exhilarating and scary. I love to travel, to walk different streets, eat different food and meet new people.

Yet, I also love the feeling it gives me to care for something; a home, a garden, a furry friend. To be able to stay a little while, to sit on the couch, have a cat on my lap, to read a book, to be unhurried. For me, that is a far more rewarding and authentic experience of a place.

I have finally unpacked my stuff, downsized very dramatically, and am now based in Armidale, NSW, but have been house-sitting around Australia, the UK, Canada and New Zealand, since December 2016. I have done many house-sits, from the young and springy, to some much older ladies and gents; from the totally over-enthusiastic, to the shy or disdainful. No, I am not talking about the home-owners. Come to think of it, maybe I am.

I have been accruing experience and references (and some good friends along the way) through another housesitting website, through word-of-mouth and my Facebook page - TraceyFriendOfTheAnimals - Please do have a look!

I absolutely love animals and, luckily for me, they seem to always like me too. Over the years I have had beloved cats and dogs, from short-hair tabbies to Russian Blues, Boxer dogs to Poodles, guinea pigs, rabbits, chooks, mice, fish and birds. I miss them.

I am always extremely mindful of the trust inherent in leaving someone you barely know to live in your home and look after the furry members of the family. Ironically, I don't know if I could do that myself, unless they were me! I treat your home with absolute respect and care, and welcome being able to spend some time having furry cuddles and walks and play, and all the things I am missing out on, now that I don't have any kids at home or animal friends to keep me company.

Life is short. Walk the dog. Eat the cake. Pat the cat. Buy the shoes. Travel. Each day is a gift. Unwrap it!

Tracey was the most fabulous house sitter and looked after our two cats, Snowy and River, perfectly. The house was spotless and it was a real pleasure having Tracey looking after everything while we were away. Tracey kept in touch so we always felt confident that all was well and cats happy. We’re just hoping she’s free next time we go away!

It was wonderful having Tracey in our house and looking after our cat. Tracey's communication leading up to and during her stay was great. I was reassured that our cat was well looked after by receiving regular updates. My neighbours who we share a driveway with also spoke very highly of Tracey. I would definitely have Tracey back if she is available.
MILLY (Hampton East VIC, Apr 2023 - 2 weeks 2 days)
Tracey was a great house sitter for my place and looking after my cat. She was very communicative & friendly in the run up to the house sit and while we were away. And she left the place in a great state for when we returned and my cat seemed to have acclimatised very well to Tracey and to us when we returned. Highly recommended.
JULIAN (Hampton VIC, Apr 2023 - 1 week)
Tracey took care of our home and indoor cat Bentleigh for 5 weeks. Being the first time using a house sitter, I had initially been wary about the prospect of having a stranger in our home, but meeting over video chat and then in person, my partner and I were instantly at ease due to her warmth and clearly caring nature. She sent regular videos, photos and updates about Bentleigh during our time away. I am a worrier by nature when it comes to him, but not once was I at all concerned about him - ... MORE

Thanks so much Lauren. Please give Bentleigh an extra snuggle from me XX
We have 2 dogs, one who is blind and 1 who has slight separation anxiety and 2 chickens. The blind girl Lucy requires eye drops twice a day and usually goes on a hunger strike for the first day of being cared for. We were amazed to be sent a photo on the first night of Lucy eating dinner. This shows how comfortable she was with Tracey. Both myself and my partner felt extremely comfortable with Tracey from our initial face time call and especially upon her arrival. She was extremely warm and ... MORE

I have had the most lovely time with Lucy and Jack. Lucy is the most lovely and gentle lady, with a hidden little spark of playfulness. She was so very good about her eye drops and it made it really simple and easy for me to do them. Jack is an absolute little charmer and a delightful character. ... MORE
After meeting Tracey on arrival to our house it was so easy leaving Billie knowing she was going to be well cared for and getting all the love and cuddles she deserves. Our house was left spotless, as though no one had even stayed. We will definitely be using Tracey again to look after Billie and our house.
