Our 20yrs in international aid & development means we're reliable, calm & resourceful. We manage life with a big dose of common sense and humour :)

We retired 8 years ago after many years living and working in Canberra and overseas (AusAID/Foreign Affairs, Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, Department of Health) though Geoff is working from home this year to fund his new passion for skiing in France! We love our home in Canberra but find it hard to keep still, so house-sitting is a great way to have a change of scenery while Geoff works. This means we’re home during the day to maintain your pet’s routine and keep them company. We are tidy and house-proud, police-checked, don't smoke, and have our own car.

We are:
** Experienced homeowners: We understand what it takes to maintain a happy, clean and secure property.
** Animal lovers: We've raised puppies, kittens, chooks, rabbits, fish and mice. We've handled emergencies, medications, special diets, and training. To be responsible dog owners, we got ourselves and our doggo trained with a Delta-certified trainer using positive reinforcement methods (our dog Kuro typically stays home when we house-sit).
** Plant lovers: We have an indoor jungle and an outdoor native garden and vegie patch. Our plants are precious and we work hard to keep them thriving.
** Great communicators: We provide regular updates & photos for your peace of mind.

We love house-sitting and its “value exchange” model, whereby we provide an excellent standard of care and in return have an equally high standard for the homes and pets we care for.

We welcome invitations to house-sit and are chuffed that we've had so many lovely offers. To streamline the process, this is what we look for:
- well trained and friendly pets
- clean, safe and comfortable homes with well maintained facilities (we’ll ask for photos or a walk-through of the kitchen, bathroom, WFH set up, and guest bedroom)
- a queen or king bed (we’re too old to snuggle in a double!) or 2 beds
- is non-smoking
- has reliable internet and a space for Geoff to work, including an adjustable office chair.

It sounds clichéd but the best and most rewarding part of house-sitting is how much we fall in love with the pets in our care - we keep wanting to snaffle them home!

Denise and Geoff were great to communicate with before the sit, so we were reassured that we had picked the best sitters. We knew that our cats, chickens and quails were in good hands. The cats were so loved (photos arrived showing lots of cuddles) that we were not sure if they would prefer to keep Denise and Geoff on! Denise and Geoff were very easy to work with, right from the start. We had plenty of communication back and forth, so we were always in the picture and everything worked out as planned, even when we unexpectedly had to leave a day early. They sent lots of photos of an obviously very happy and satisfied dog which they took on many jaunts. The house was immaculate on our return. I couldn't have been more delighted with Denise and Geoff. They were caring and sensible and spent quality time with my two dogs, so that I was never worried that the boys would miss me because they were so occupied. Denise and Geoff were lovely to host, they were very easy to communicate with and sent us regular updates of our animals. We have 3 elderly dogs and felt very comfortable and confident with their care. We returned home to an immaculate home (they even cleaned our fridge for us!!) and very happy chickens and dogs. Well, what can I say? Denise and Geoff arrived the afternoon before we left, and it was lovely getting to know them a little. We felt very comfortable leaving them in charge of our home, and more importantly, our golden retriever, Tilly, and her cat, Pocket. We were happy to receive several updates and pics of the pets during our time away. Wow Denise and Geoff were amazing petsitters! In only 3 days they took "chips" on several walks and he is very happy! And I told them that our house-cleaner was coming to clean our whole house about an hour after they left so they didn't have to worry about cleaning up. Our cleaner is here now and said that the house is so clean that she gave us a 30% refund off her normal fee! Plus they watched their sheets and towels this morning which is not required. Denise and Geoff were fabulous!, Great communication, sent loads of photos and the house was immaculate when we got home. They even bought little chew toys for the boys. Have to say the boys were a little ho-hum to see us when we got home, think they were missing Denise and Geoff!. Would have them back in a heartbeat!.
