Hera & Pieter

Hello!

We are Hera and Pieter, a couple in their early thirties from Belgium and The Netherlands respectively. We have lived and worked in Dunedin, New Zealand, for the past 12 months, but since we’re not ready to go home just yet, we’ll be visiting Australia for several months during autumn/winter 2024.

Although we have no prior experience as house sitters at the time of writing, we will be doing some sitting in the near future here in NZ. Additionally, we have been tenants for the past 10 years and always received good reviews from our landlords for looking after their properties well (references can be provided). We’re clean, tidy and organized and are generally careful with our belongings and will be with yours. We both have a thing for historical homes that are cozy and have character, maybe because we both grew up in a 19th century house.

Hera: I spent my whole childhood/teen years living next door to my grandparents, who used to breed horses for fun, so it will be no surprise I took up riding and caring for horses at a young age. We also had chickens and 2 cats ourselves. My grandparents on the other side of the family used to breed dogs for a living, specializing in Bernese Mountain dogs and Landseer (Newfoundlander) dogs. My hobbies are reading, yoga, hiking, wining and dining. 😊
Pieter: During most of my childhood we had either a cat, a dog, or both. I also had my own aquarium with several tropical fish but stopped that hobby when I went to Uni. My other hobbies are hiking, cycling, reading, cooking, and playing guitar.

We both love hiking so if your pets need long walks daily, that should not be an issue. Because we both have a background in Medicine, administering of medications to pets should not be an issue either.

We both have a full (international) driver’s license.

We don’t smoke/vape.

Since we know maybe 2 people in all of Australia, we won’t be secretly inviting people over or throwing parties 😉

We are not currently in Australia so a meet and greet beforehand would be difficult, however we’re always keen for a (video)call.
