Alana & Thom

Hi! I'm Alana. I've been living in Cambridge UK with my partner Thom since 2012, but we've just moved back to Sydney to spend more time with family. We're in our late 30's/early 40's. I'm the Manager of a small environmental charity, and Thom is a Design Engineer Consultant. We love travelling (we met while working abroad), and enjoy cooking, crosswords, music and games. I grew up with all kinds of animals at home (dogs, cats, birds), and until recently Thom and I had our own cat (Iago) who moved with us all the way from Australia to the UK!

We're looking for interesting opportunities to stay somewhere new, especially while we're still settling back into living in Australia. We love animals, so getting to pet sit as well as house sit is a bonus!

We've owned our own house and pets so we know what it takes to look after both.

As housesitters we've happily and successfully looked after cats, dogs and tortoises. I also grew up in a house of animal lovers. We had cats (Marmalade and Bach), a dog (Nikki, a gorgeous Fox Terrier), and birds (Chris the Cockatiel, and a few lovebirds too).

I'm good at winning over even skeptical furry friends, usually by paying attention to their body language, following their lead, and finding their favourite places to be pet/scratched. For cats specifically, I've mastered the art of the slow blink!

We know how worrying it can be leaving a pet in the care of someone else. We'll make sure we listen to your instructions for how to care for your pet and your home, and will keep in touch to let you know how things are going.
