Trace the Ace 🐱🐕🐖🦎🦆

62, Retired Horticulturist

Well Hello to the People Pups and Pusses out there!!
A bit of my background. I started my housesitting life in 2012 and loved it immediately, but needed to pause it for nearly 4 years to renovate my house and sell it in 2021 to fund my travels.
I ran my business as a Horticulturist for 12 years, but I'm retired now.

I'm fairly flexible regarding homeowner's schedules, as long as it doesn't clash with booked sits of course. I have a Police check and several current 5 Star 🌟 references can be found on Mindahome under Trace the Ace. I have recently updated my profile on AHS which I wasn't using much.

My beautiful sister and brother Border Collies aged 15, both passed in 2021 a month apart. Tilly with a sudden seizure out of the blue while asleep, and I had to let Charlie go as the palliative care he was receiving for cancer was no longer working. I really, really miss having doggy mates around the house, but right now I want to travel in a campervan/car and its just easier without a pooch. A lot of sits also don't want your own pets in their place, which I understand. So having that connection with the furrier family members that I get to talk to, hang with and love on, is such a huge benefit of housesitting for me.

I had a horse as a kid and my family always had the usual dogs and pussycats plus the assorted animals I brought home. Other pets I have loved along the way include budgies, guinea pigs, fish and a tortoise. I get to see my son's cat Tabatha Tiger (a tabby of course) a fair bit who is quite a character, when Al brings her over on the ferry. She loves to explore my house and yard after Al's one bedroom flat.

My very first sit in 2012 was a small organic farm with lots of sustainable food crops to look after. 40 odd chooks and Shella the JR. On one of my favourite x 2 sits I looked after Dudley, another JR cross and his sidekick Wolfy, a completely blind dog. Intrepid Wolfy needed twice daily insulin meds, and several other meds daily. He loved his trips in the car with his head out of the window in the breeze madly sniffing! Followed by a beach walk on leash, My last sit finishing in November was 6 weeks on a rainforest acreage, completely off grid and completely beautiful 😍

My number one love apart from dogs is anything Nature related, so I do prefer a small bush property, but residential is fine too, not too far from town...
I have played Lawn Bowls for the past 20 odd years. I served two terms on the Board as a Director. I listen to a lot of music, read a lot and visit op shops and markets. I especially like to visit art galleries and museums.

I would absolutely treat your house and pets with tender loving care, and understand the level of trust involved, having been a homeowner my entire adult life, starting with buying my first place solo at 21. In the almost 13 years I've been housesitting I have never cancelled on a sit. Please see 5 star references I wasn't able to transfer, on Mindahome.
Many thanks for your time : ) Trace!
