Green garden!
Make sure the garden and pot plants are thriving when you get back - get a house sitter.
In the barnyard of a zoo environment, I'm familiar with waking up at 5am to begin an 8-hour day of ensuring gates are locked, feeding for horses, alpacas, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, sheep and guinea pigs, hosing down stables and their ever-clogging sewer drains, shovelling out soiled straw and replacing it only to be immediately re-soiled by a spiteful donkey, and catching wayward goats and chickens by hand.
27, Zoo & Museum Education Presenter
Hi All,
My name's Ryder and I'm an Education Presenter for the Australian Museum and Taronga Zoo🐾
Born and raised in Berry on the south coast, I've grown alongside horses, goats, cows and cattle dogs my whole life.
While working as an international outdoor guide in all things kayaking, bushwalking and abseiling, I trained with Taronga Zoo for my Certificate II in Animal Care and Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care - which is a long way of saying I have scooped the poop of everything you can imagine from bears to lions to penguins.
I likewise have devised dietary plans, enrichment schedules, performed health assessments and worked alongside epileptic and stress-prone animals.
If I can clean industrial kitchens and entire enclosures solo, I'm more than happy to maintain the upkeep of your homes and gardens 🪴
I continued to volunteer for 1.5 years with the zoo's primates team before being hired on as staff to ramble on about animals for a living for our overnight Roar N Snore Program. I now teach conservation biology and a large variety of other subjects in the daytime with the Australian Museum.
So, whether it's a dog, donkey or a bearded dragon, I'd love for the opportunity to look after your furry family members!
During the school term when I'm on call, I am available only in the Greater Sydney region. But, for all holiday periods including this end of year. you can toss me nationwide!
Best of luck to you and your searches,
~ Ryder
