We need a house sitter

North Coast - Northern Rivers

Jeannie

Hi
Welcome to Trickletops, and our little oasis !

We live out of town on acreage, it is only about 25 to 30 min run into the country town of beautiful Grafton, the best part of living here is is no neighbours :-)

We have a 4 bed 2 storey house with front and back decks, on 169 acres, with cascading waterfalls just a short stroll away.

This is a house that is forever changing as i love renovating! I have just completed my new Ikea kitchen in 2023.

My newest additions is a Harry potter room under the stairs, and a Narnia room which is accessed through the Antique wardrobe!

This year i have just finished another room, its a Paris themed room.

There is a stone built bathroom for guests only, as we have an ensuite.

There is two separated gardens, one we can the small garden, and then we have the big garden out the back where dogs free roam. there is a separate entertainment deck and solar heated hot spa out there too. and a little further back in the big garden we also built enclosed veggie garden/chook pen.

We have recently had alot of land clearing done with a bulldozer, so out the back of the property we have tracks for bush walking, 4wding. theres a lovely river out the back and makes for a great creek walk if the waters not runing too deep. its like being in Bali.

Just 5 minutes walk from the house down the paddock we have a creek and waterfalls, depending on rainfall as to how well its running, sometimes its just trickling along but then after a few days of heavy rain its gushing and looks gorgeous, we love going there for a beer and sitting on rocks and chucking ball down in to the swim hole for dogs to jump in and swim and fetch ball.

We also have a cave, to walk too, only 5 mins walk away.

so... now for the funny farm.

My two horses Kahli and Ripples are mum and daughter mares. Ripples is not ridden, and Kahli can be ridden by experienced riders only. Shes an old girl turning 21 but looks amazing, Ripples is green broken but I havent ridden her in years, again if experienced and confident then feel free to do some round yard work with her and get her going ;-)

The horses get Hay in morning and we feed them a hard feed at night. You will need to fill water container up every few days with hose, just keep eye on level.

HOUSE DOWNSTAIRS

Predominantly we need someone whom is a cat lover because I am a registered breeder of Abyssinians.

I have 2 breeding boys whom are kept in their own cat enclosure separate from the house, and i have 5 Breeding girls at the house.
they have their sleeping areas and access to an amazing enclosure which is attached to the house, they tend to be in and out of the house, downstairs only, they have areas in outside Enclousure they can toilet, but also have access to cat litter trays which i change every 2 -3 days. they have access to their cat biscuits and are fed twice a day. they really aren't any trouble, but love human company and attention once they get used to you, we sit and watch TV at night downstairs and they just chill out on lounge with you.

HOUSE UPSTAIRS
Upstairs we have 2 dogs, Bindii the fat blue heeler and her beautiful blue eyed daughter Sansa whom looks nothing like her mum! the rogue Border collie got to Bindii before she got desexed and Sansa was the only blue eyes girl in litter so we kept her. shes got a very lovely submissive nature. The dogs are kept upstairs and have access to the big back yard,

These girls are pretty easy going, they love a walk down to the creek, and they have to have their fix on the way and bark and try 'heel' the horses, a big yell 'get here now !!' soon nips it in the bud. horses used to it, Just annoys them more than anything. if you don't fancy a daily walk out the back or down waterfall they just as happy with a bit of company.

We also have 3 chooks, which are in their own enclosure all just need feeding and watering once a day. plenty eggs once they start laying after winter spell.

So thats about it, takes about half an hour to prep n feed morning n night, just need to get into the routine, make a coffee! put the radio on, prep food and take food down for boy cats, throw hay to horses while down there, and feed and water chooks on you way back up to house. then run food down to the cats downstairs. check they got water n bikkies and thats it. it helps if theres 2 doing it, makes it quicker, but i do this all time alone and its not hard, just monotenous sometimes.

I am a bit nervous as this is a long time to be away from my furbabies, going away for my Daughters wedding.

I really dont want to just accept anyone, so i will be taking my time choosing, reading references ect. if i dont choose you, its nothing personal, I kinda get a feel for the right person (s).

I will need someone whom can pull start the water pump to transfer water from main tanks to house tank. its easy to do, but theres some out there they dont know how too or never done it before or dont want too. we will demonstrate and get you to do it before we leave so your all good with it.

We have satellite internet, a downstairs lounge room with big red leather lounge and a new smart TV with access to netflix and Stan etc, there is a nice local village pub about 15 mins away in Copmanhurst, and just round corner from the pub is the Clarence river which affords fantastic views, swimming and fishing.

In Grafton town itself their are lots of shops pubs and things to do.
be sure to check out the river and fig tree avenue, there are some gorgeous big old trees in Grafton.

Maclean, Coffs, glenreagh, Minnie Waters, Wooli, Yamba, Moonee Beach all close by and fantastic days out. 4wd enthusiasts there Sandon beach, which is a fantastic day out.

Grafton and Belligen markets are 3rd saturday of the month.

our property will require driving on an unsealed gravel road for 5 minutes.

Please also be mindful that there may not be mobile service out here for you, i had a new samsung note and couldnt get 1 bar but now i have Iphone 11 and can now make and recieve calls, thats a first in 18 years ! We do have internet wifi, so you can use wifi calling on phones, laptops /ipads. think technology getting better now.

I do hope who ever chooses to house sit enjoys the country living as much as we do, and look forward to corresponding with you.

I had a great time at Jeannie's menagerie of animals and interesting house, beautiful area and property. Communication was easy and we got along really well, appreciated being able to stay a few days earlier to get to know everything and spend some time getting to know you. Thank you
