We need a house sitter

Central Coast

Tony

We are looking for a person/couple to take care of our house/property and our dog for 6 weeks in October/November. We are on an acreage close to wonderful Macmasters Beach on the NSW Central Coast. It's a 12 minute walk to the beach or 3 minute drive. The local shopping centre (Kincumber) is a 7 minute drive. The closest railways station is 22 minutes away, and its a 90 minute drive to Sydney. The house is large and relaxed, with all facilities, including an outdoor dining 'pavilion' with a wood fired grill. You will have access to two bedrooms (the main bedroom will be locked). WiFi access is provided. The garden will need some watering if it gets really hot and/or hasn't rained for a while. The main garden task will be regular mowing - we have a ride on mower. You will probably have to mow three, maybe four, times over 6 weeks. It takes about 2 hours. Our dog is a young Kelpie called Zelda. She is a lovely dog but very energetic - she needs to be walked twice a day, for about an hour each time. Although she is pretty obedient, she is not totally reliable with recall, and needs to be walked on the leash. She can be off leash on the beach when you get used to each other. The property is unfenced so she needs to be tied up when she is outside, which is a bit sad, but she is inside most of the evening and sleeps inside (on the couch... we had plans to make her sleep in the laundry, but we weakened...) She is very smart and enjoys learning new skills/tricks and playing. We're looking for an individual or couple who love dogs and can manage an energetic and demanding dog and are relaxed about sharing a house with a dog (without letting everything fall apart!) You need to be willing to put a bit of effort into the garden - but you will also have access to lots of fresh vegies! And you're 15' from great beaches for surfing and swimming. There is terrific bushwalking nearby, and great whale watching spots. It probably is not an ideal situation if you have a dog of your own - our experience has been she gets very territorial around another dog in the house. She totally fine with dogs she meets - if anything she is usually very submissive until contact has been established. She loves to play with other dogs on the beach. (There is usually a whole bunch of other kelpies.) Thank you!
