We are looking for a house sitter/s for our cute little timber bungalow on beautiful Macleay Island in Southern Moreton Bay. Our home has two bedrooms and one bathroom. We're looking for non-smokers, without children & those who prefer a quiet lifestyle please.
Our home is located in a nice quiet street with lots of bird life around. It's 3km from the jetty (20-30 minute walk), and passenger ferries run approximately every half hour through the day and about once an hour in the evenings. Fares are all 50 cents!
To bring a car over on the barge costs approximately $60 each way and would be heavily booked during the Xmas period, so our situation might suit someone who is happy to leave their car in the free car parks on the mainland and get around on foot or by bicycle / e-scooter etc.
The island has lots to explore, a taxi service, bowls club with free courtesy bus, golf club, wonderful cafes, island-made gelato icecream shop, fresh veggie sellers, medical centre, pharmacy and two small supermarkets. Inter-island ferries are free and there is an IGA on Russell island a short walk from the jetty.

Karyn-lee and her partner John are a wonderful and welcoming couple. We looked after their 4 chickens and home for one week. Their home is cosy and comfortable, in a quiet and beautiful island location. We wish we had been able to spend more time with the chickens there as they are lovely creatures! Would certainly recommend spending time on McLeay Island and would definitely return for another house sit.
