Hello! We are looking for someone to housesit for us over Christmas to look after our cat Hank and water the garden’s. We leave the morning of Sunday the 22nd of December and arrive back in the afternoon of Saturday the 11th of January.
We are in Footscray in the inner West, we are a 5-minute walk from both the Footscray station and Footscray central. The CBD is a ten-minute train ride from our house, and in fact you can see the city from the end of our street we are so close. Footscray station has multiple lines that go through to the CBD, outer west as well as regionally (you can get to Bendigo/Castlemaine/Ballarat/Geelong etc from Footscray). We are a 15-minute train ride/drive to Williamstown beach if you would like to go for a swim or walk around.
We are 5 minutes from Footscray CBD and Footscray market which has the best food in the west, lots of delicious Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Malaysian and Japanese food. There are also three cafés within 2-minute walk from our house.
We live right next to the Footscray Arts Centre, Maribyrnong river and the Heavenly Queen Temple. We have two kayaks you can use should you like to take a paddle up the river.
Our house is a cosy single fronted terrace house with two bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with a double bed. We have an enclosed backyard with an undercover pergola surrounded by a lovely garden.
We have air con in both bedrooms and the lounge, as well as Wi-Fi, and a washer and dryer.
We have two barbecues (a webber and a smoker) and a fire, but probably won’t need that over summer! We have a table you can set up to host a lovely Christmas lunch or dinner. You’re welcome to have people over, but out of respect for our neighbours no parties please.
Our Cat Hank is a bit of a weirdo and can take a while to warm up. We got her in the peak of COVID lockdowns so she wasn’t very socialised outside of our family for her fist couple of years. She can be equal parts suspicious and friendly. Sometimes she will want you to pat her and sometimes she will hiss at you. She will warm up to you after a couple of days and she is pretty low maintenance. She’s not very food driven, so we just top up her biscuits at the start of the day and scoop her litter once a day. She’s indoor/outdoors but she needs to be in at night (she’s a weeny so will generally want to come in anyway).
Looking for someone who is familiar with cats and happy to water the garden. No mowing, weeding etc required just want to make sure the garden stays alive while we’re away.
