If you enjoy lovely views over the water and the friendliness of small regional towns, then you will enjoy my house and location. My small 2 bedroom house suits a single person who enjoys their own space, is water and energy conscious. I work from home and have a desk space with a great view and unlimited Wifi, which is perfect for work or study. The house is a very welcoming space: bright, airy, and colourful. It does have a few minor quirks befitting a 70’s modified shack. While everything normally runs smoothly, a house sitter who is practical and not fazed by imperfections or the potential need to change the gas bottle or watering timer would be beneficial. I have wonderful neighbours who can provide assistance if required.
I don’t have any pets and mainly need someone to keep an eye on the house and my outdoor and indoor pot plants, and to top up the bird bath for my feathered friends and the sleepy lizards. The outdoor plants are on an automatic system so plants only need a check every now and then to make sure they’re getting sufficient, particularly on the hot days. Having this system means you could sleep away for the occasional night or two if you needed. If you were amenable my milk kefir would also appreciate the occasional feed.
A front decking overlooks a lagoon and the Murray River, and the back verandah provides views of the slightly unkempt native garden. No assistance is required in the garden area unless you would like to eat from the vegetable patch or pick and process some caper buds and berries (instructions can be provided). There is parking space for a car or small campervan (eg Toyota Hiace size).
Mannum is 4km away and has all the services you might need: supermarkets, dining and take away options, medical facilities, op shops, a great country museum, outdoor pool, several churches and plenty of social activities (e.g. social bowls). Should you perchance be a ukulele player you could be introduced to like-minded folk. Be sure to pick up the local Mannum Mag and check if and when the fireworks are happening on NYE … they’re a real treat.
I travel several times a year for work and a housesitter who might be interested in repeat visits across the year would be great but not essential
