We need a house sitter

Mid North - Barossa Valley

Chris & Shelley

Does housesitting in the gorgeous Barossa Valley appeal to you?The position could particularly suit a retired couple with a rural background who are familiar with and enjoy living on a small rural property amongst the gum trees, situated on the edge of the Barossa Valley in a quiet , but not isolated wooded valley.
Single housesitters or a working younger couple would be considered.
We have 28 acres with a Burmese cat, three well mannered horses, a small flock of Dorper sheep and a few chooks. These animals would require some feeding with some care and attention at times if needed. Facilities, yards and paddocks are excellent. You would need to have animal handling skills , especially around horses, to adjust a rug or move paddocks. All animal feed will be provided and stored on the farm.
We have a lovely, large modernized country farmhouse available for our sitters. There is plenty of room for a caravan, if this is part of your travel and accommodation preferences. We need someone to look after the house and the garden, however there is not a lot to be done in the garden at this time of the year, beyond using the ride on mower and perhaps a little weeding. The house has a large wood fire and all the wood would be provided.
We are situated only 10 minutes drive from the large regional town of Gawler with all its' amenities including supermarkets, restaurants ,sporting facilities and a hospital. It is less than a one hour drive to Adelaide by the Northern Expressway. The Barossa Valley is very close, with ample scope for exploration and dining, as well as outdoor pursuits, including a new world class cycleway.
It would be necessary to collect and forward mail from the local Post Office shop (500 metres away.) There is a good network of local neighbours and tradesmen for support, if needed. A comprehensive information and procedure manual is provided. We will remain only a phone call or E-mail away when contact is required. Our adult son is also easily contactable.
Sitters will not be required to pay for power, phone , internet (wifi) or water.
Sitters will be paid for any out of pocket expenses .
