We need a house sitter

Melbourne - Yarra-Dandenong Ranges

Alexandra

We’re looking for someone responsible to look after our 17 year old Cat Monty while we go on holiday from New Year’s Day until the 10th Jan 2025. Our house is on a very quiet no through road in the gully, no more than 10 minutes drive to the beautiful Dandenong ranges. We have some lovely parks, a great walking/cycling track nearby, and we’re 10 minutes walk or 3 minutes drive to the train station and local village shops which has an IGA and some small shops and cafes. If you’re someone who likes peace and quiet, enjoying nature, and taking walks, then our home is great for that! In terms of household amenities our house is older and not updated but it’s clean, functional, and very peaceful. We have a new washing machine and dryer, separate bath and shower, Gas cooking, shady backyard, unlimited NBN WI-FI, TV, super king sized bed, big gas BBQ out on the back verandah, ducted evaporative cooling and ducted heating.
We have four small dogs who we take on holiday with us every year, and so Monty needs someone to look after him while we’re gone. For his age Monty has been doing well, however, recently he’s developed a health issue which causes him to have occasional seizures. He’s being monitored by our vet and is not currently on any medication. It is possible that he may have a seizure while we’re away, so this is something you will need to be comfortable with if you agree to take on this house sit. We will of course discuss what happens and what to do in the event of a seizure with you in detail before we go for everyone’s peace of mind, and will be easily contactable by phone as we’ll only be an hour and a half drive away. Because of Monty’s condition we are looking for someone ideally who either works remotely from home or who won’t be working and be in and out of the house during the day to keep an eye on him. Other than his potential seizures he’s very easy to care for! He spends most of his time napping, loves a lap to sit on, and loves pats and treats! He’s an indoor/outdoor cat, but needs to be indoors from dusk to dawn (due to council regulations and the risk of foxes), and has an indoor litter box that he just uses at night, which just needs spot cleaning.
We leave to go away on the 1st Jan around midday, and then we get back on the 10th in the early afternoon. If you have any questions please feel free to send me a message!
