We need a house sitter

Regional NSW - Northern Tablelands

Wendy and Dave

Hello, we are Dave and Wendy, an active semi-retired couple seeking a house-sitter or couple between the approximate dates 12-04-25 to 26-05-25.
We are planning to go on a holiday to UK and Europe but need to lock in a house-sitter before we book our flights.
Our 9 acre patch of serenity is located 7 km from the small township of Guyra NSW Northern Tablelands. Guyra is 35 km north of Armidale and 65 km south of Glen Innes. A beautiful fresh cool climate with no humidity, and during April/May the countryside turns picture perfect with the glorious colours of Autumn.
Prefer non-smoker with clean living habits.
We have 2 horses and 1 cat to feed and look after while we are away, and have a couple of indoor plants and a small outdoor garden to water every two or three days.
One of the horses will need to be rugged/unrugged daily and hooves picked out (he is very quiet).
We are on a very secluded and quiet 9 acres 7 km out of Guyra with no near neighbours, definitely 'away from it all'.
Our house is a neat 2 bdrm cottage, with a reliable off-grid system for power, with gas hot water and gas stove. We have a wood heater to keep the house nice and cosy with plenty of stacked firewood to use.
Our cat Ccino (pronounced 'Cheeno') gets dry feed twice a day and is kept inside every night, and will need his litter tray tended to daily. He is very social and loves human company, is likely to follow you around.
Our 2 horses are fed twice a day, given hay in the morning and a chaff mix plus hay late afternoons.
The water troughs for the horses will need to be checked every couple of days.
We would love to hear from you if you think this house-sitting stint fits you and would like to experience a Northern Tablelands climate in Autumn on a very peaceful property.
PS The Glen Innes Celtic Festival is on early May and is well worth a visit.

Wendy & Dave made this an extremely easy house/pet sit for me. Their detailed instructions for feeding & caring for their 5 horses and the most adorable cat were clear and easy to follow. Their new off-grid home was lovely, nestled in the grassy hills. I'll be very happy to horse-cat-house sit again for them.

FIONA (Apr 2022 - 5 days)
It was a pleasure to return a second time to house sit for Wendy and Dave while they were away. They have a charming house on a very quiet property away from any roads, neighbours, noise or interuptions. I had a very relaxing time during my stay, going for walks in the hills and looking after the horses and Cino the cat, which was a breeze. I recommend getting in touch with them and to enjoy some time away from it all if you have the opportunity. Thanks Wendy and Dave.

MURRAY (Sep 2024 - 2 weeks 5 nights - 1 of 2 endorsements from this sitter )
Wendy and Dave are extremely nice, generous and friendly and made me feel very welcome. House sitting for them and looking after their cat and horses was a pleasure. They have a lovely house in a beautiful valley with a creek nearby and no neighbours in site so it is as peacful and relaxing as it gets. I look forward to sitting for them again in a few weeks!

Wendy and Dave are a most welcoming couple. Our handover was thorough and thoughtful. We loved the quiet country serenity of their home and the friendly pussy cat and horses. Most highly recommend.

PETER (Sep 2023 - 1 week)
I loved meeting Wendy and David at their off-grid mountain top house, which is very comfortable and clean and the setting is divine, especially if you like all things remote. Ccino the cat was easy to get on with and became very cuddly once we got acquainted and of course all the gorgeous horses were a treat to meet. Their daily feeds and care routine is quite intense though and sitters would definitely need to feel confident managing horses. Calico is a darling but was being a little bit ... MORE

Thankyou Gigi....all the best with wherever your path takes you.!
This was our first experience of a complete off the grid house sit and it worked well with us living in our caravan. The weather was challenging in a time of bush fires and smoky surroundings... but hey that's what we house sitters do!!! Wendy and Dave only having just moved onto the property themselves left us with instructions to keep us informed as to the care of their two lovely horses. I am sure by the next requirement for house sitters they will have made much progress in their ... MORE
