Pet/house sitter wanted in Ballarat VIC from 17.3.2025 to 13.5.2025
Hi All, we are looking for a house/pet sitter to look after our small menagerie. There is a guest room and bathroom for your use and you will be welcome to use any of the food in the fridge or freezers in return for the loving care of our fur and feather family and our home. Please bear in mind that we are in our really late 60’s so everything is set up to be as easy as possible.
We live on a long narrow 5-acre bush block which is approx. 6 kms from Buninyong, 20kms from Ballarat and 45 minutish drive from Geelong. Our neighbours on both sides are lovely and not too far away if help is ever needed. Kangaroos often lounge around our dam which is clearly visible from the house and echidnas and possums are regular visitors. There are also many wild birds that hang around the dam and the singing of kookaburras and cockies is often heard.
Our three dogs, Teddi, Toby and Jet, are Shih tsu x Pomeranian and just love cuddles and attention. As they have a large fenced back yard there is no need to walk them but if you offered I’m sure they wouldn’t say no. As they are doggy door trained, they basically only need to be fed and cuddled.
We have three cats, Spook, Mac and Kiltie. I doubt that you will even see Spook or Mac for the first few days but Kiltie will check you out and claim you as hers. As the cats also use the doggy door Spook and Mac can access the food with no problems until they decide to check you out too.
We also have chooks, ducks, turkeys and geese, all of which are friendly and not at all aggressive. All the pens are set up with automatic waterers and bulk feeders and there will be bins of feed in each pen to make topping the feeders up easy. Basically, all they require is to be checked daily to make sure they have food and water and to collect the eggs.
If you enjoy gardening there is plenty to do (if you want to), however as its summer the lawns will need to be mowed using our ride on mower and some whipper snipping will be required. We have a couple of greenhouses where you can harvest the veggies and enjoy….possibly with some lovely fresh eggs. As I have a number of plants on the back deck and the greenhouses they will need watering but this only takes about 30 minutes twice a week or so.
This sit is probably more suited to a couple or a very energetic single.

We would like a meet and greet before we agree to the sit (for all our sakes)...hope that doesn't offend anyone!
