Porepunkah VIC

We are looking for a friendly person/couple/family to look after our property and menagerie while we're away. We live in a lovely little off-the-grid log cabin on 29 acres with magnificent views to Mt Buffalo. Heating is by wood fire and water is rain water, with high quality bore water as backup.

We have a 4 yo miniature dachshund, a 3 yo labrador x working dog and a 1 yo Maremma, 2 pet (not so miniature) pigs and some chooks and chickens. Our dogs are very friendly and love cuddles on the couch (they are inside/outside dogs). The Maremma is a livestock guardian for our chooks. She patrols the property regularly, does bark a bit a night, can be a little wary of strangers at first, but is actually the most loving friendly dog.

The chooks and pigs require feeding and checking each day and you should get many eggs in return for your efforts (we currently have about 10 hens).

We have established a very productive veggie garden that is partially and automatic watering, and some pot plants that may need a bit of hand watering.

Our property is located on the main road, just 8 km from Bright and 1 hour from Mt Hotham and Falls Creek. There is a long driveway up to the house, giving you respite from any road noise and a good degree of privacy. Only about 2 houses across the valley are visible from our house. It really is our little slice of heaven with some of the best views in the region.

The 3 br house is about 2o years old with a renovated kitchen. The Rail Trail (bike path) runs directly past the front of the property and it is only 3km walk into Porepunkah where there are cafes, a modern pub and a general store.
