South Coast - Wollongong & Illawarra
Rod
Our comfortable three bedroom home, with a guest retreat downstairs, is set in a quiet street with a sunny north facing back verandah with a bush outlook. Two of the bedrooms are set up as offices and not available, the guest retreat is sunny and has a garden outlook. There is a rowing machine, exercise bike and treadmill in the garage but no room for cars. The will be carport available. Internet, Netflix and Prime are available.
Every day feels like a holiday here and we normally stay home for holidays, spending time watching the birds that visit the backyard, sailing on the lake or walking on the beach. We are 15 minutes (by car) from Port Kembla beach, Lake Illawarra boat ramps and Wollongong CBD, or here is a bus from the end of the street. We have a hot spa in the back yard which is nice to sit in under the stars. It currently has a fault on the water heater but I will get it fixed if a spa is your thing!
We have a small back lawn that takes about 30 minutes to mow, a vegepod, a few fruit trees a couple of bee hives. The bees keep to themselves but probably best not to have bee allergy. There are a few pot-plants on the verandah that like an occasional water. and the bird bath needs a hose out and fill every week. A contractor keeps the front lawn mowed.
You need to love dogs. We have two beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback show dog bitches (not de-sexed) Rosie and Freya who are very easy going and really behave like big cats, though Rosie will go off if the doorbell rings but is fine with visitors once introduced. I normally walk them together early in the morning but they are ok without a walk. They are fed morning and night and the rest of their day is spent finding a sunny place and then a shady place to sleep. They are allowed inside anytime and are allowed in the lounge room (on covered chairs) after 4pm. They go to bed in their crates when we do. If they are in season they get pretty lethargic and I only walk them locally around the block. We currently have a third dog, a small moodle who lives on the verandah and keeps to herself - we will hopefully be sending her to a new home before this holiday but if not - she is no trouble and eats at the same time as the others.
